To deepen industry-education integration and strengthen university-enterprise collaboration in talent development, the School of Materials Engineering of Hebei Vocational University of Industry and Technology brought its “Thousands of Students Visit Hundreds of Enterprises, Building the Backbone of the Steel Industry” program to our company. A total of 458 students and faculty members participated in an industry orientation and internship program from July 13 to 20.
The program included special lectures on safety, production processes, and digitalization, as well as guided visits to production sites. Through these activities, students and faculty were able to see firsthand how traditional manufacturing is being integrated with advanced processes and intelligent management systems, while gaining a better understanding of the steel industry’s transformation toward high-end, digital, and low-carbon development.
Throughout the program, all production plants and departments worked closely together to support the visits. Experienced technical personnel were assigned to explain production processes and technical knowledge, while dedicated teams ensured the safety of students and faculty during their time at the company.
The company also made unified arrangements for accommodation, meals, transportation, and recreational activities. Approximately 190 participants were accommodated and provided with meals on company premises. These arrangements gave students a direct understanding of the company’s employee-oriented culture as well as its working and living environment.
Through this jointly developed practical learning program, the company and the university have further strengthened and expanded their channels for cooperation. The initiative also supports the company in developing a pipeline of highly skilled professionals whose capabilities are aligned with the future development needs of the steel industry.
