Green development is the foundation of high-quality development and the lifeline for the survival and development of enterprises. For many years, Hebei Yongyang Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Yongyang Special Steel) has aimed to build an "energy-saving, low-carbon, and ecologically harmonious garden-style enterprise." Through large-scale environmental protection investment, technological innovation, and systematic ecological management, it has achieved a remarkable transformation from a traditional steel enterprise to a national-level green factory, setting a benchmark for the green transformation of the steel industry.
Adhering to the principles of "investment first, leading indicators among peers, and equipment that remains competitive for ten years," Yongyang Special Steel has applied advanced technologies, strengthened environmental governance, and coordinated low-carbon development. It has invested 1.3 billion yuan to equip its entire process with world-class energy-saving and environmental protection equipment, making it the first private steel enterprise in China to apply integrated activated coke desulfurization and denitrification treatment technology. Yongyang Special Steel has put into operation a fully enclosed material yard, employing dry dust removal and pneumatic conveying processes to achieve dust-free material storage and transportation. It has also constructed a modern water treatment center to achieve zero-emission recycling of production water. Furthermore, it has established an unorganized emission control platform, installing 105 sets of unorganized emission monitoring instruments at major dust-generating points, intersections, and the factory boundary to monitor dust emissions in real time. Electric heavy-duty trucks have replaced heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and a transportation model combining long-distance rail transport with short-distance clean energy vehicle connections has been adopted. A dedicated railway line for Yongyang Special Steel has been constructed to optimize its transportation structure. In June 2023, Yongyang Special Steel completed ultra-low emission assessments for organized emissions, unorganized emissions, and clean transportation, with the assessment results meeting ultra-low emission standards. In September 2024, it was rated as a Class A environmental performance enterprise in Hebei Province.

Yongyang Special Steel systematically implements key green and low-carbon technologies such as waste heat utilization, combustion efficiency improvement, and intelligent control, achieving significant energy conservation and carbon reduction results. Yongyang Special Steel has applied dozens of energy-saving and carbon-reducing technologies, including sintering flue gas internal circulation technology, sintering SHRT (waste heat energy recovery) power-saving technology, sintering waste heat power generation technology, blast furnace BPRT (blast furnace BPRT) power-saving technology, converter dry gas purification and recovery technology, and regenerative combustion technology in heating furnaces, cumulatively reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 500,000 tons annually. Yongyang Special Steel highly values the application of renewable energy, continuously optimizes its energy structure, and promotes the decarbonization of its energy structure. In 2023, Yongyang Special Steel signed a photovoltaic power generation technology agreement with Yingli Energy (China) Co., Ltd. to develop a distributed photovoltaic power generation project within the company's plant area using an energy performance contracting model. The first phase of the project is currently operational, with a total capacity of 30MW to be built in three phases, and the proportion of green electricity continues to increase.
Yongyang Special Steel has built a smart energy management and control system across the entire process, based on 5G full connectivity, and closely integrates it with production and environmental protection systems. This system covers four branch plants and 23 workshops, connecting over 1,000 metering points for wind, water, gas, electricity, and steam, and fully incorporating the concepts of energy planning management and energy cost centers. Through intelligent management of the entire process, including data collection, process monitoring, energy consumption analysis, and energy management, the system dynamically displays comprehensive energy consumption, plan tracking status, and data from over 20 types of energy medium balance models in graphical form, achieving real-time energy balance management. This upgrades the original monthly balance and settlement to daily balance and settlement, effectively achieving energy conservation, consumption reduction, and cost reduction. In 2026, Yongyang Special Steel added a carbon emission management module to its energy management platform, automatically collecting, calculating, and statistically analyzing carbon emission data, thus completing the transformation from experience-based management to analytical and intelligent management. Yongyang Special Steel also formulated a comprehensive energy management system and performance evaluation and reward/penalty system, constructing a carbon emission management system and implementing a monthly assessment mechanism to ensure the effective implementation of carbon management. In 2025, Yongyang Special Steel's comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel decreased by 13.51 kg of standard coal equivalent compared to 2020, a decrease of 2.48%; in 2025, the carbon emission intensity per ton of steel decreased by 4.54% compared to 2024; the energy consumption indicators of the converter steelmaking process reached the industry benchmark level, and in December 2025, it passed the acceptance and public announcement of the "Dual Carbon Best Practice Energy Efficiency Benchmark Demonstration Process/Equipment" by the China Iron and Steel Association.

Intelligent Workshop - Heavy Rail Workshop: The first domestically produced heavy rail production line with all core equipment made from a domestically manufactured universal rolling mill, breaking the foreign monopoly. It mainly produces heavy rails, crane rails, mining U-shaped steel, I-beams, power angle steel, H-beams, channel steel and other products.
Yongyang Special Steel actively researches and develops low-carbon emission steel products, promoting the greening of the entire life cycle of steel products. In 2022, Yongyang Special Steel was approved to establish the Handan Special Precision Steel Technology Innovation Center, integrating internal and external resources to focus on key common challenges such as new steel materials, special metallurgical technologies, and precision forming, driving product upgrades towards dimensional precision, simplified composition, and refined microstructure. Yongyang Special Steel has developed long-life ultra-high strength spring flat steel materials, achieving domestic substitution for high-end lightweight materials in automobiles. Using this material can reduce vehicle weight, effectively reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, resulting in significant carbon reduction benefits throughout the entire life cycle. In terms of green standard construction, Yongyang Special Steel actively participated in the drafting of the Hebei Provincial Local Standard "Evaluation Guidelines for Green and Low-Carbon Steel Products". In 2025, Yongyang Special Steel carried out EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification and carbon footprint accounting certification for its four main product categories: rails, steel sections, round steel, and flat steel, committed to breaking through international green trade barriers, reducing product carbon emissions, and building a low-carbon steel brand.
