The new material index releases the ranking of the technological competitiveness of the world's steel enterprises

  On August 3, SteelRanking released the 2020 World Iron and Steel Enterprise Technology Competitiveness Ranking, and a total of 50 companies were shortlisted, including 31 domestic and 19 foreign.

  Two Chinese steel companies are among the top 10, of which China Baowu Group ranks 3rd and Anshan Iron and Steel Group ranks 8th.

  Nippon Steel, JFE, and the domestic enterprise Baowu Group have shown obvious advantages among the world's most technologically competitive steel companies.

  According to the grading system, a total of 25 A-grade (including A+, A and A-grade) enterprises have entered, and the distribution of steel enterprises participating in the classification in the world is shown in the figure. Among them, China accounted for 44%, followed by Japanese steel companies accounted for 12%, followed by South Korea, Germany, the United States and India, accounting for 8%, according to which the final share of 4% was Luxembourg, Sweden and Austria. The whole proportion can also be viewed from a new perspective on the distribution of steel technology in the world.

  The distribution of technological competitiveness of China's iron and steel enterprises

  According to the grading system, among the 31 Chinese companies participating in the classification, only 13% are A+ and A-grade, 55% are A- and B-grade, and 32% are C-grade. The technical level of China's iron and steel enterprises is unevenly distributed, and the A+ iron and steel enterprises with high-end technical products and core technical capabilities also have a number of iron and steel enterprises to be improved in core technical capabilities.

  Overall, China's iron and steel enterprises in the shortlist of the ranking of polarization, technical ability is unbalanced, although some enterprises steel production is very high, but the level of technical competitiveness is lower than other advanced steel enterprises in the world, with a lot of room for improvement.
